The Herculoids!
Does anybody else remember this cartoon? When I was very little (ages 3-6), I would get up almost every day around 5:45 and scurry downstairs.
I would watch the color bars for 15 minutes, keeping the volume at next to nothing so my mom wouldn't wake up and to avoid the skull-penetrating monotone booooooooop that goes with the color bars. At 5:59 the national anthem came on, accompanied by an image of the Iwo Jima statue and the stars & stripes triumphantly sailing high. Then it was time for an hour of Hanna-Barbera heroes, a variety which varied daily, and included such characters as The Impossibles, The Fantastic Four, Space Ghost, and my all-time favorite The Herculoids! The stone gorilla, Igoo, and the giant rubber jelly beans, Gleep & Gloop, were my favorites, but there's no denying the awesomeness of Tundro's explosive-launching horn or Zok's penetrating lasers (together with the classic Hanna-Barbera "tzoooo!" laser sound effect). Boy, they just don't make cartoons like that anymore!
